If you aren’t already making bone broth regularly, I’d encourage you to start! Bone broth is one of the most healing foods for the digestive system. You can sip it straight, especially if you’re sick, or use it in recipes.
Benefits of Bone Broth:
Rich in protein, amino acids, minerals & collagen
Reduces joint pain and inflammation
Improves your immune system - especially helpful when you’re sick
Treats leaky gut syndrome - The gelatin in the bones help seal up holes in intestines which helps with food intolerances and allergies
I used the bones from my whole chicken recipe a couple of days ago. I also used the instant pot as you get the same amazing benefits without cooking for 8+ hours on the stove top.
Save the bones next time you eat meat and store in the freezer, along with any vegetable scraps. You can also find meat bones sold in most Asian markets.
Use any bones from chicken, turkey, beef, or pork
Add any combination of aromatics/vegetables: carrots, celery, onion, ginger, garlic, leeks, mushrooms, herbs, etc
Add water to the max line
Add 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to help break down the bones
Add 2 teaspoons each salt and pepper
Cook on manual high pressure for 2 hours ( or cook for 8-10 hours on the stove top)
Use Natural Release
Taste and add more salt and pepper to your taste
